Wide receiver Darnell Mooney had an impressive rookie season despite the circumstances surrounding last season, as the 2020 season continued in the middle of a pandemic.

Mooney earned the No. 2 receiver job by Week 2, and he finished the season with 61 catches for 631 yards and four touchdowns. And his numbers could’ve been even better had Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles been able to throw an accurate deep ball.

But Mooney is far from satisfied with his performance last year. His goal this year is to earn the respect of those around the league by proving he can be a dominant player in this league.

“This year I just want to be an explosive player,” he said. “I want to be dominant. I want to be a known factor, a known name.”

While Mooney’s rookie season was a solid one, he didn’t get the opportunities to really establish himself as a threat in this league like others did.

“I really don’t think I was able to use my talent, like, my speed …” Mooney said. “I didn’t have anything breaking out where I was, like, catching a ball and using my speed or using how fast I am.”

But that could certainly change this year.
