Emoni Bates, the No. 2 overall player in the 247Sports Top150 and the 247Sports Composite Rankings, has decided to reclassify to the 2021 class and has cut his list down to a final four options including the NBA G League, Memphis, Oregon and Michigan State – where he previously committed to.

The decision out of the 6-foot-8, 200-pound small forward comes as no surprise as this had been rumored and expected in recent months. Among those rumblings has also been that Bates may follow Jalen Duren – who is set to announce on Friday night.

The finalists they have in common are the G League and Memphis. On Duren’s front, the G League has been losing traction as the college route picks up steam. Memphis, Miami and Kentucky are all receiving the most buzz and depending on who you talk to, some consider it a battle between Memphis and Miami while others consider it a battle between Memphis and Kentucky.

Point being, Memphis is the common denominator and considered the slight leader as we head down the final stretch and if Bates does decide to follow Duren, things point favorably in the Tigers direction.

Regardless, Bates is not NBA Draft Eligible until the 2023 NBA Draft and will have two years to play before he can take that next step in his career.
