The New England Patriots are advising fans to the changes made at Gillette Stadium for the 2021 season ahead of the team’s first preseason home game against the Washington Football Team on Thursday.Gillette Stadium will be allowed to be at full capacity during Patriots games this fall for the first time since the 2019 postseason. Since then, the Foxborough venue has implemented many modifications due to the COVID-19 pandemic and upgraded several fan areas.Tickets for all Gillette Stadium events are fully mobile and the venue has gone cashless while adding many touchless features. The south end zone concourse has also been transformed to offer renovated concession offerings and a brand-new, expanded video board.Fans will be able to access their mobile tickets by downloading the official Gillette Stadium App, which is free and available on both iPhones and Androids. The app will allow for touchless interaction at entry gates, more flexibility in distributing tickets to fans and make it easier for fans to transfer their tickets to other fans. There are cash to card machines throughout the stadium for guests who bring cash, which is converted to a VISA card that can be used at any point of sale inside the stadium and anywhere VISA cards are accepted.Gillette Stadium has several new upgrades this year, including the transformation of the south end zone concourse into a walk-in food and beverage hub, as well as a ProShop. The concourse will have two walk-up beverage locations offering a full bar with easy access to food choices, using kiosks for ordering and pickup. A third “Marketplace Express” has been added to the south end zone, featuring the same favorites fans last enjoyed in 2019. The ProShop in the south end zone concourse is the only walk-in style retail location on that concourse and carries exclusive team merchandise.Fans will also notice a new video display in the south end of the stadium that is 70% larger, measuring just under 53 feet high by 220 feet wide. The 11,660-square-foot video board ranks as the seventh-largest in professional football. The display has the latest LED technology features, including variable content zoning, which allows it to show one large image or multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and messages.Gillette Stadium has implemented health and sanitization policies and procedures to help keep fans safe and comfortable. Bathroom fixtures are now touchless and all point-of-sale transactions are made by fans swiping their own electronic payment. There is also an added emphasis on more frequent and diligent cleaning and sanitization for venue staff, especially at high-frequency touch points.While COVID-19 vaccinations are not required for fans’ stadium entry, all ticketholders must agree that neither they nor their guests will attend an event at Gillette Stadium if they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, or experienced COVID-19 symptoms within 48 hours prior to the event. Unvaccinated fans are asked to wear a mask during events.
