Luis Severino will remain shut down at least through the end of this week, as the Yankees wait for more news on his tight right shoulder “in the next day or two,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday.
The right-hander underwent an MRI exam on his shoulder Monday after feeling tightness while warming up for a rehab start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.
Asked if he believed Severino’s season was in jeopardy, Boone said: “I’m not ready to go there at all yet.”
But the 27-year-old hasn’t pitched since the 2019 postseason, sidelined by rotator cuff inflammation, a lat strain, Tommy John surgery and a groin strain before the shoulder issue popped up.
