Daniel James’ flying start to his Manchester United career continued after netting the opener against Southampton in the 1-1 draw on Saturday.

After receiving the ball from Scott McTominay, the 21-year-old cut onto his right foot before expertly dispatching a powerful strike past Angus Gunn into the top corner.

The strike was the Welshman’s third goal goal of the season, having scored on his debut against Chelsea on the opening weekend and also curling in a lovely effort against Crystal Palace in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for United, it was not enough to inspire a victory, as Jannik Vestergaard cancelled out the strike in the second-half.

James was the first summer addition at Old Trafford this summer after signing from Swansea in an £18m deal.

And he is already establishing himself as one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s most important attacking players, with his eye for goal and directness in attack most pleasing for his manager.

Remarkably, James’ goal against Southampton has already seen him equal Alexis Sanchez’s tally in the Premier League for the Red Devils.

Sanchez joined Inter Milan earlier this week on a season-long loan to put an end to a nightmare spell at Old Trafford.

And in light of this stat, Red Devils fans have taken to social media to aim a dig at Sanchez.
