Ohio State announces kick off time for Purdue game in Week 11 – 247Sports

It was another weekend with another win for No. 6 Ohio State. The Buckeyes welcomed Penn State to Ohio Stadium for a night game and, although the contest was closer than expected, the Scarlet and Gray came out with a 33-24 victory to move to 7-1 on the year and 5-0 in Big Ten play.

Next week, Ohio State will go back on the road to take on Nebraska at Memorial Stadium. While not a top-20 opponent like the Nittany Lions were, the Buckeyes will still have a challenge in Lincoln. The Scarlet and Gray will then return home to take on Purdue in what, depending on how results go, could be another ranked vs. ranked matchup, as the Boilermakers climbed into the top 25 two weeks ago before falling out.

On Monday, it was announced that Ohio State and Purdue will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will air on ABC following the Penn State-Michigan game.

The Buckeyes and the Boilermakers have met 56 times throughout the two programs’ histories with the Scarlet and Gray owning a 39-15-2 record. The first meeting came over 100 years ago, all the way back in 1919, when John Wilce’s Ohio State team defeated Butch Scanlan’s Purdue  20-0 in Columbus. The Buckeyes won six consecutive games against the Boilermakers before Purdue finally won 12-0 at Ohio Stadium in 1938.

Perhaps the most famous, or infamous, win in the series came in the last meeting in 2018. Despite being big favorites, the Boilermakers upset then-No. 2 Ohio State 49-20 at Ross-Ade Stadium. This was the second-largest margin of victory by Purdue in the series. Including that win, the Boilermakers have won three of the last six games against the Buckeyes and four of the last nine, so Purdue has had the Scarlet and Gray’s number as much as any Big Ten team over the last 15 or so years.

The only game remaining on Ohio State’s schedule without a start is the Nov. 20 contest against Michigan State at Ohio Stadium. That kick time for that game should be announced next week to complete the Buckeyes’ 2021 slate.
