CARLSBAD, Calif. — The Mets’ general manager search has taken a turn in an unorthodox direction.
Adam Cromie, a former Nationals executive who left baseball in 2017 to become an attorney, is a serious candidate for the Mets’ opening, an industry source confirmed to The Post’s Joel Sherman. Cromie became assistant GM with the Nationals in 2014. The Allegany College graduate had spent the previous seven years working in the organization.

Cromie’s resume includes a stint as an intern at analytically-driven Baseball Information Solutions.
Cromie is employed by the law firm Jones Day in Pittsburgh, where his focus is mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and general corporate matters, according to his LinkedIn page.
