There’s no doubt Roy Keane is one of the most entertaining pundits in football.

The straight-talking Irishman has once again been making the headlines for a scathing rant about his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson, claiming the Scot didn’t always have Manchester United’s best interests at heart like people make out.

The pair infamously fell out in 2005, leading to Keane’s mid-season departure, and it turns out time isn’t the best healer.

And in light of the ex-Red Devils’ skipper’s recent comments talkSPORT.com has identified five other times Keane has launched hilarious rants…

Liverpool rant in 2017

Following Liverpool’s victory over Maribor in the Champions League group stages in November 2017, Keane ruffled a few feathers among Reds fans on ITV, saying: “It’s hard to figure out Liverpool at the moment. I think, it’s hard to get excited about them. To me, they are going nowhere fast.

“Again, they’re neat and tidy, but defensively… come the end of the season when the prizes are being given out, Liverpool will be nowhere near them because at the back there are question marks [and] about the goalkeeper… there’s not too much to say about Liverpool.

“I think if Liverpool were playing out in my back garden, I wouldn’t watch them. They’re just drifting. Drifting nowhere.”

Unfortunately for Keano, he got it badly wrong as Liverpool eventually made the Champions League final before being defeated by Real Madrid in the final. Tough luck, Keano.

Shooting down England fans

Following England’s run to the World Cup semi-final, Keane was there to bring all Three Lions fans down to earth with a hilarious one-off line to tell fans they may be going a bit over the top with the hype.

Wright or wrong?

After making it to the semi-final, Keane once again played down England’s World Cup run, saying England shouldn’t be too excited about making the final four.

Ian Wright disagreed, insisting fans have every right to get excited and the two men then had a remarkable on screen back-and-forth which made for brilliant viewing.

Fed up with modern footballers

Keane has been outspoken on a number of subjects, but no more so than his view on the ‘modern footballer’.

And speaking about Manchester United and their problems, Keane furiously spoke about Jesse Lingard and his off-field habits.

He said: “If there was a good, strong dressing room that would not be tolerated. That is why I worry about the United dressing room. That wouldn’t be tolerated in a good dressing room. For a young player, who is still learning his trade.”
