Watford have confirmed they have sacked manager Javi Gracia after a woeful start to the season and appointed former boss Quique Sanchez Flores as his successor.
The Hornets are yet to win a game in the Premier League and are currently rooted to the bottom of the table.
A statement on the club’s website by Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury read: “Javi has represented Watford with great dignity and will always be deserving of our fullest respect for his achievements.”
The Spaniard’s coaching team have also been relieved of their duties at Vicarage Road, with an ‘imminent appointment’ teased on the statement on the club’s website.
Gracia was appointed as Hornets boss in January 2018 after the sacking of Marco Silva, who then went on to take the manager’s position at Everton.
The former Malaga manager took Watford to the FA Cup Final for the first time in 35 years and just the second time in the club’s history, but were beaten convincingly by Manchester City in May.
Sanchez Flores guided the Hornets back to the Premier League in the 2014/15 season and lead the club to top-flight safety the following season.
However he was sacked in May 2016, despite leading the club to an FA Cup semi-final and securing a mid-table finish.
The Spaniard was then replaced by Walter Mazzarri, who also lasted just one season at Watford.
