COLUMBUS, Ohio — Quinn Ewers joined the Ohio State football program in late August, played two snaps, never threw a pass and then was off to the transfer portal.

Doing so brought to an end a year-long story that seemed to have a twist every few months, highlighting the many changes in college football. He committed because Texas wasn’t good enough to keep him. He came early because Name, Image and Likeness deals gave him a chance to make millions. He left because of reasons that range from getting on the field to reported clauses in his NIL deals requiring him to do so.
