The Bundesliga will be allowed to restart but NOT as early as May 15 due to quarantine requirements.
According to The Athletic, the proposed May 15 date is too soon with every team forced to quarantine for two weeks before action resumes.
This means the season can not get back under way until May 22 at the earliest, while the following Friday – May 29 – is also a possibility.
On Monday, the German Football League revealed 1,724 tests had been carried out on players and staff between the top two tiers of football.
Bayern Munich are top, four points clear of Borussia Dortmund, while Bayer Leverkusen are just two points behind Borussia Monchengladbach in fourth.
Further down there is a fight to beat the drop as just four points separate Werder Bremen and Fortuna Dusseldorf in 15th and 16th respectively.
Uwe Rosler, 51, who manages Fortuna Dusseldorf told talkSPORT he and his players are ready to go back despite his previous health issues.
“It’s my choice to go back, a decision I have made with my family,” he said in reference to being diagnosed with non hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 34.
“I have respect for anyone who has concerns and we will talk to find a solution for everyone involved. My choice is to go and try and finish the season. I think it’s important to try and finish the season in a fair way where championship and relegation will be played out.”
