A brace from Macauley Bonne and Alfie Doughty’s goal saw Charlton win their first Championship match in twelve attempts as they got the better of promotion hopefuls Bristol City.
The Addicks led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Bonne but Andreas Weimann got the visitors level within a minute of the restart.
Lee Johnson’s side then took through Niclas Eliasson’s finish as it looked like Charlton would continue on their terrible run.
But Bonne’s equaliser and Doughty’s 82nd-minute goal ensured the fans at the Valley would go home happy for the first time since October 19.
West Brom suffered a setback in their pursuit of the title against Barnsley as a late goal from Aapo Halme saw the two sides play out a 1-1 draw at Oakwell.
Filip Krovinovic’s looping effort gave the Baggies the lead but Halme struck late to consign West Brom to a second successive draw.
The result gives Leeds the chance to close the gap on them later tonight as they face Preston at Elland Road.
And there was also a slip up for promotion hopefuls Fulham, who could only manage a draw at strugglers Luton.
However, the Cottagers will he grateful for the point as a stoppage-time strike from Bobby Reid ensured the pulsating contest finished 3-3.
Elsewhere, Brentford got the better of Swansea, while Stoke climbed out of the relegation zone after scoring two stoppage-time goals to claim an unlikely 3-2 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
