CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Indians postponed Saturday’s scheduled 4:10 p.m. game against Toronto and will play a traditional doubleheader on Sunday at Progressive Field. The first game is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m.
Sunday’s seven-inning doubleheader means the Indians will play consecutive double dips. They will face the Blue Jays on Sunday and the White Sox on Monday in a rescheduled doubleheader following an April 21 postponement because of cold weather.
Aaron Civale (7-1, 3.04) will start Game 1 on Sunday, while rookie Sam Hentges (1-1, 6.20) will start Game 2. Hentges was scheduled to start on Saturday.
Toronto will start right-hander Ross Stripling (0-3, 5.63) vs. Civale and LHP Steve Matz (6-2, 4.28) against Hentges.
Gates for Sunday’s doubleheader open at 12 p.m.
The Indians took the opposite approach Friday night, playing through 6 1/2 innings of rain, cold and high winds before the game was finally called. The Indians lost, 11-2.
Regarding tickets for Saturday’s game, the Indians announced that “The original purchaser to today’s contest will automatically receive a credit that can be utilized toward any remaining 2021 home game starting with the June 11 homestand.
“Fans will not be able to use credit towards the remaining games in this current homestand due to limited capacity and seating manifest changes (May 30-June 2).”
