Conor McGregor announced he will undergo an extensive training programme to take part in a 180km voyage with Princess Charlene of Monaco.
The retired UFC star posted pictures of himself on Instagram racing water bikes with the former Olympic swimmer.
The Princess of Monaco represented South Africa at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and later retired from professional swimming in 2007.
She married Prince Albert II of Monaco in 2011, who McGregor also posed for a photo with.
The Irish fighter wrote on Instagram: “A great day racing the water bikes with Princess Charlene of Monaco.
“A phenomenal athlete and Olympian, we are teaming up for a 180km voyage in September to raise awareness in water safety.
“I cannot wait!
“We will be utilising my training under the McGregor F.A.S.T program to excel on these mounted water bike devices, which are incredibly good!
“It is like freedom out there!
“Thank you for the great day for my family Your Highness.
“In aid of the Princess Charlene of Monaco foundation.”

The challenge will see two teams of four internationally renowned athletes take turns to cycle on the water bike from Calvi, in Corsica, to Monaco on September 12 and 13.
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has ‘Learn to Swim’ and ‘Water Safety’ awareness programmes.
Since its creation in 2012, more than 730,000 people across 34 countries have benefited from the initiatives.
Princess Charlene was not the only South African star that McGregor met while on holiday.
He also posed for a photo with rugby star Eben Etzebeth, who started the Rugby World Cup final against England in 2019.
The Irish fighter was dwarfed by the 6ft 8in lock who plays his club rugby for French side Toulon.
