Greensboro, N.C. — Three ACC basketball games scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed.
Duke’s basketball program announced its scheduled road game against Clemson was postponed “due to Duke’s health/safety protocols.”
UNC’s home game against Virginia Tech was also postponed, along with Florida State’s matchup with Boston College.
In a statement on its website, the ACC announced that Boston College, Duke and Virginia Tech are adhering to the outlined COVID protocols within the conference. There was no mention of possible makeup dates, but conference officials said they were working to reschedule the games.
UNC is scheduled to travel to Boston College on Jan. 1.
The Blue Devils last played Virginia Tech at home on Dec. 22 in a 76-65 win. Reports indicated that they will also postpone the game scheduled Saturday, Jan. 1, at Notre Dame, although the university has not yet announced that change.
Duke, ranked second in the country, had scheduled games against Cleveland State and Loyola Maryland postponed already this season due to COVID-19 issues within the opponents’ programs.
The ACC recently revised its COVID-19 rescheduling policy. For men’s and women’s basketball, a team must have a roster minimum of seven game available student-athletes and one countable coach to play a game. If a team does not have the requisite number of participants, and elects not to play, the game shall be a no contest.
