An England fan has splashed out on flights to Japan after a boozy session watching Eddie Jones’ men smash New Zealand on Saturday.
However, the unlucky punter forgot to buy a hotel room in Japan as well as a ticket to the World Cup final.
The Roses reached the final on Saturday after a dominant display over the All Blacks and will play South Africa, who beat Wales on Sunday.
Rob Lewis from Sunbury-on-Thames watched the game accompanied by a beer or five, and spontaneously decided to splash out on a £650 flight to the Far East.
However, although the 36-year-old web designer leaves on Tuesday on his Air France flight to Tokyo (via a quick Paris stopover) he hasn’t got a match ticket or a hotel.
He confessed to looking up flights after England’s triumph, before booking himself on one to prove his mates wrong, as they didn’t believe he would actually go.
“When you sober up and the reality of it kicks in that you have to do a bit of organisation, you do wonder if you should be regretting the decision,” he told the Mail . “But I try not to think negatively like that. It’s done now. It’s going to happen.”
But Mr Lewis has a far more pressing challenge on his hands when it comes to finally landing in the Land of the Rising Sun.
“I had a knee operation just over a week ago so I’m on crutches at the minute,” he added.
“I’m going to be hobbling around Tokyo on crutches trying to get a ticket on the final, which is pretty dumb but worth it for the adventure I guess.”
