No. 11 Florida leads Tennessee 17-14 at halftime of Saturday night’s showdown in The Swamp in Gainesville. Gators running back Nay’Quan Wright scampered in from 23 yards out to give his team the lead midway through the second quarter. It appeared that Florida was on its way back to the end zone shortly before halftime, but Vols defensive back Alontae Taylor ripped the ball away from wide receiver Jacob Copeland as he fought for extra yardage after converting a fourth down. However, Chase McGrath missed a 47-yard field goal at the buzzer that would have sent the teams to the locker room tied at 17.
Wright has 33 yards on the ground in addition to the 41 provided by quarterback Emory Jones. Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker is 7-for-11 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
