Former Tottenham youngster Marcus Edwards celebrated wildly after scoring for Vitoria against Arsenal at the Emirates on Thursday.
In a script that wrote itself, the man Mauricio Pochettino once branded a ‘mini-Messi’ haunted Spurs’ north London rivals in the Europa League.
Just eight minutes into the match, the 20-year-old Englishman picked up the ball inside the penalty area, turned right and then fired home to give his new Portuguese side an unlikely lead.
He then wheeled away to celebrate in front of the Arsenal fans at the home end as he gave a massive fist pump before a knee slide.
Edwards’ jubilation demonstrated just how much the goal meant to him, as he returned to home soil to prove a point having been sold by Spurs in September.
Just three weeks earlier, this treatment was dished out in the opposite direction with former Arsenal man Serge Gnabry scoring four for Bayern at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Therefore, the Spurs fans very much enjoyed a slight form of petty revenge.
