NFL Films and NFL Matchup analyst Greg Cosell joined Rich Eisen this week to discuss all of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft. It is an interesting conversation for fans who would enjoy a little more insight into what the San Francisco 49ers might be looking to do with the No. 3 overall pick.
Cosell shares his thoughts on Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Mac Jones, Davis Mills, and even current New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. While Lawrence and Wilson are nearly locks to be drafted with the top two selections, the Jets sticking with Darnold would be a draft-altering decision. Cosell shares his thoughts on that scenario.

NFL Network’s Steve Wyche spoke virtually with San Francisco 49ers team reporter Keiana Martin to discuss the blockbuster trade that went down on Friday morning. The 49ers moved up from the No. 12 overall spot to No. 3, situating themselves to grab one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft class.
Who does Wyche feel the 49ers are targeting at their improved draft position?
“The people I spoke with believe it’s either Trey Lance or Justin Fields,” Wyche told Martin. “They think that those mobile quarterbacks with the big arms would fit perfectly into what Kyle (Shanahan) likes to do, and they also think that Zach Wilson won’t be there at three.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who the San Francisco 49ers will select with the No. 3 overall pick. Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are widely expected to go at the No. 1 and 2 spots, leaving head coach Kyle Shanahan with his pick of Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones. The first two are considered the better prospects. Of course, there is a lot of chatter surrounding Jones. At least, there was before what some consider to be a less-than-stellar second pro day.

Trent Williams identifies the top priority for the 49ers O-line, excited to have Alex Mack

The San Francisco 49ers expect to have a much-improved offensive line this season. A lot of that will depend on staying healthy and not repeating last season’s misfortunes. It will also help not rotating players in and out of the lineup at center. The team didn’t just re-sign eight-time Pro Bowl tackle Trent Williams. It added six-time Pro Bowl center Alex Mack.
Williams is excited about the addition and feels Mack’s addition will pay big dividends in 2021.
