Heung-min Son did not want to believe Bayern Munich thrashed Tottenham 7-2 on Tuesday – and thought it was ‘a bad dream’.
Son had given Tottenham a 12th-minute lead as Mauricio Pochettino’s side went on to record the club’s heaviest home defeat in Europe.
The South Korea forward told Tottenham’s official website: “I was hurt, just like the fans. I felt that pain. It was a bad result and I didn’t want to believe it.
“I was thinking ‘please, is this just a bad dream?’ but what can we do now? It was so disappointing, sad, everything negative, but we have to carry on.”

The result saw Tottenham’s season go from bad to worse after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two minnows Colchester last week.
Spurs will be looking to get back to winning ways when they travel to struggling Brighton on Saturday, LIVE on talkSPORT.
Graham Potter’s men have not won a Premier League game since the opening day of the season.
Son added: “Football can change so quickly. We have a game every three days and I believe we can turn it around.
“We’re together and we carry on, work harder. The best way is to go to Brighton and fight for every ball, fight in every situation, try to get a good result and bring home the three points.”
