Liverpool begin their defence of the Champions League with a tough trip face Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli.

Jurgen Klopp will be forgiven for having a sense of déjà vu as they took on the same side 12 months ago.

The Reds were drawn in a group with Napoli last season and their first away trip was to the Stadio San Paolo in Naples.

Klopp will be hoping for a different outcome this time around, though, as they lost on that occasion thanks to a last minute Lorenzo Insigne goal.

Liverpool also won 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield in the final group match of the tournament as they scraped through by virtue of goals scored.

Ancelotti’s side may have felt a little hard done by in going out of the tournament as that defeat to the Reds was their only loss in the group stages.

Liverpool may have got a little lucky in reaching the knockout stages but they took their chance and went on to win the whole thing.

Klopp has a few injury concerns ahead of the match in Italy with Divock Origi picking up an ankle injury during the win over Newcastle.

Origi was replaced by Roberto Firmino in the 37th minute and has not travelled.

“The update on Div is that it is not too serious,” said Klopp ahead of the Napoli game.

“We expect him [to be out for] between one and two weeks, but it depends a little bit on when he can deal with the pain. It is nothing really; it’s a feeling, but it should be fine.”

He also revealed Andy Robertson did not train on Monday, though has not ruled him out of starting.

“It is not a major thing, it was more precautionary today, but it is not 100 per cent sure [he will be available]. We will have to test it tomorrow and then we will see,” he explained.

Naby Keita is expected to be back later this month while Alisson Becker is still several weeks away from full fitness.

It is likely that Klopp will play his strongest side in the Champions League as he looks to get off to a strong start, so assuming Robertson is deemed fit enough to play, this is how Liverpool could line-up for the match on Tuesday.
