The Manchester United midfielder has come under intense scrutiny for his social media antics
Piers Morgan has responded after Jesse Lingard admitted he would like to punch the TV presenter.
The Manchester United midfielder has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons since the end of the season, with a number of questionable videos emerging on social media.
And the 27-year-old added to the controversy when he told SPORTbible he would like to punch Morgan.
The Arsenal supporter and celebrity has previously traded barbs with the England international on Twitter, and could not help but respond after seeing the video.
He wrote: “Mate – you’re a 5ft 7in, 128lb stick insect with the muscle power of a neutered Poodle. So maybe cut the Mike Tyson chat, yeah?”
The England international has been active on social media throughout a post-season break in Miami with Marcus Rashford, but has done more than show his questionable taste in fashion.
He baffled supporters with a bizarre ‘Beans Beans Beans’ video which went viral online last week, but he sparked outrage with a second video he uploaded to Snapchat on Wednesday.
In the clip, Lingard is giving a quick tour of his and Rashford’s messy hotel suite and is heard shouting and swearing, while one of his friends also makes an obscene gesture in a bed.
A number of United fans responded to the video, branding the 27-year-old ‘embarrassing’, ‘unprofessional’ and ‘disrespectful’.
Some of the Old Trafford faithful even urged the club to get rid of him, claiming Lingard has been a negative influence on 21-year-old Rashford, while one supporter said the player ‘needs his head examined’.
According to reports earlier this month, the midfielder was in line for a new deal at Old Trafford worth £130,000-a-week.
