Leicester climbed to second in the Premier League table in truly spectacular style with a stunning 9-0, yes 9-0, victory over a dreadful Southampton side at St Mary’s.
It was a record-equalling night for the Foxes, who raced to a 5-0 lead at half-time with two strikes from Ayoze Perez and goals from Ben Chilwell, Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy.
They didn’t let up after the break though with Perez completing his hat-trick on 57 minutes while Vardy got another a minute later.
James Maddison’s free-kick appeared to have rounded the game off but Vardy’s stoppage-time penalty saw him get a hat-trick as well.
Leicester sent a huge message to the rest of the Premier League about their top four and even title credentials.
As for Southampton, this is a result that will haunt their fans for many years to come.
