Liam Gallagher says Arsenal were lucky their game against Man City was postponed as they were ‘gonna get bust up’ on Wednesday evening.
The match was due to take place at the Etihad but is now being rearranged due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The fixture has already been moved once due to Man City’s involvement in the Carabao Cup final and will be changed once again.
The Premier League clash was postponed after Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis tested positive for COVID-19.
Arsenal played the Greek club at the Emirates on February 27 and the decision was to postpone the Man City fixture is a precautionary measure.
The postponement resulted in former Oasis frontman and huge Man City supporter Liam Gallagher taunting the Gunners after the announcement was made.
He wrote on Twitter: “So the City v Arsenal game cancelled just as well eh as Arsenal were gonna get BUST up ha ha c’mon you know LG x.”
The Premier League said the postponement was linked directly to Marinakis’ infection and there were currently no plans to postpone other matches.
A statement read: “Following medical advice, Arsenal FC and Manchester City FC consider it is necessary to postpone their fixture due to be played this evening to give time to fully assess the situation.
Scrap handshakes permanently, not just for coronavirus, says Ally McCoist – It’s a meaningless gimmick
“The Premier League has therefore agreed that tonight’s game will be rearranged.
“We understand this will cause inconvenience and cost to fans planning to attend the game but Arsenal, Manchester City and the Premier League have agreed that the short notice of Mr Marinakis’ infection means there is no alternative but to take the time to complete a proper assessment of risk.”
