There’s a reason why Barcelona’s poor start to the season has coincided with Lionel Messi’s recent injury problems.
Messi has only started once for the struggling Spanish champions this term – but the good news for Ernesto Valverde was he was fit enough to return for their Champions League clash against Inter on Wednesday evening – and it’s safe to say he didn’t disappoint.
Inter took the lead in the early stages of the match, with Lautaro Martinez scoring after just two minutes to stun Camp Nou into silence.
But the Serie A side couldn’t keep Messi and Luis Suarez quiet for too long.
Suarez equalised proceedings with a delightful volley, before adding a second 26 minutes later.
But for Suarez’s second it was Messi who showed Blaugrana fans just what they’ve been missing this season, effortlessly breezing past FOUR Inter players before teeing up Suarez – who couldn’t miss.

The match ended 2-1 to the hosts and meant that Inter succumbed to their fifth defeat in five visits to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona are now level on points with Dortmund, who lead Group F on goal difference.
The Bundesliga side also won tonight after defeating Slavia Prague 2-0 in the Czech Republic.
