Second half
Michigan takes 31-3 lead in third quarter
Maryland takes over at its own 25 to start the drive.
Two quick runs move the chains to the 36, and then Tualia Tagovailoa rushes for a gain of 13.
Maryland moves the ball in increments over its next three plays, bringing up fourth-and-2: Peny Boone is stuffed for no gain. Turnover on downs.
Michigan 24, Maryland 3 (12:11 3rd)
Michigan gets it at the 44 of Maryland.
A.J. Henning is again stripped, this time after a 9-yard pass, and it’s recovered by Hassan Haskins. Haskins runs for 3, then 5, and Cade McNamara finds Roman Wilson for a 29-yard completion down the left side to bring up first-and-goal at the Maryland 5.
Haskins can’t get in on his first two carries, and McNamara throws a pick on third down — but it’s overturned for defensive holding, and Michigan will have it first-and-goal at the 2.
Haskins punches it in to put Michigan up big, and ‘Beat Ohio!’ chants commence in College Park.

After a holding penalty on third-and-1, Cade McNamara delivers a strike to Daylen Baldwin that goes for 15 yards to the Maryland 49.
McNamara moves the chains again with a 9-yard pass and 4-yard run, before giving to Donovan Edwards for another 9-yard gain to the 27.

McNamara hits Donovan Edwards for 18, rushes to the line, and spikes it. McNamara finds Roman Wilson for a touchdown pass, but it’s erased by a personal foul backs the Wolverines up.

Michigan takes 21-3 lead after blocked punt
Maryland takes over at its own 38.
Maryland goes 3-and-out after the third-down throw to Taulia Tagovailoa misses the mark, and it’ll line up to punt.
The punt is blocked by Matt Torey and recovered by Michigan in Maryland territory at the 42.

J.J. McCarthy comes in at quarterback for Michigan. He misses to Roman Wilson, but then runs for a gain of 14. McCarthy then throws to Mike Sainristil for a 15-yard touchdown pass that puts Michigan up three scores.

Michigan takes over at the 25 after the Maryland field goal.
Hassan Haskins rushes for 9, then 8, before Daylen Baldwin hauls in a 9-yard pass and Haskins runs for 3 more to give Michigan first-and-10 at the 46.
Then it’s third-and-10 after a sack and 3-yard completion. Haskins gets tripped up short of the sticks on third down. Michigan goes for it on fourth-and-4: McNamara’s throw to Erick All is tipped and caught by A.J. Henning, but he’s 2 yards short of the line to gain.

Maryland runs for 6, 8 and 9 yards to move the ball into Michigan territory, and a 12-yard completion gives the Terps first-and-10 at the 14.
Colby McDonald moves the chains on third-and-1, and Maryland now has it first-and-goal at the 3.
Two straight 5-yard penalties and a run for no gain makes it second-and-goal at the 13. Taulia Tagovailoa misses a wide-open receiver in the end zone, then does the same on third down.

Maryland takes over at its own 17, trailing 7-0.
Taulia Tagovailoa throws two incompletions after a run that loses 6 yards on first down.
A.J. Henning’s 14-yard punt return gives Michigan the ball at Maryland’s 45.

Michigan takes over at the Maryland 45, and starts pounding the rock.
Hassan Haskins rushes for 12, Cade McNamara for 7. A few plays later, on fourth-and-1, Michigan hands to Haskins for a 2-yard gain that moves the chains.
Andrel Anthony makes a terrific one-handed catch, an 18-yard reception, to give Michigan first-and-goal at the 14.

Maryland takes over at its own 25 after the Michigan touchdown.
A false start sets the Terps back. Tualia Tagovailoa only completes one of his next three passes, and it’s for 5 yards. Colton Spangler’s punt is returned to the 33 of Michigan.

And the Wolverines’ drive doesn’t last long, either.
MIchigan is flagged for illegal formation on third-and-1, calls timeout, then throws incomplete on third-and-6.

Michigan takes over at its own 30 after the missed field goal.
Cornelius Johnson hauls in a pass, Hassan Haskins rushes for 5, and Johnson pulls in another pass, this time for 7 yards to the Maryland 49.
Haskins and Cade McNamara trade touches until Michigan has it third-and-2 at the 31, where Maryland is flagged for pass interference. It’s first-and-10 at the 17.
Haskins rushes for no gain. It’s all McNamara from there: He hits Donovan Edwards for 15 and Luke Schoonmaker for 2 to give the Wolverines a lead.

Pregame
The Wolverines need to take just one more step before learning the stakes of next week’s matchup vs. Ohio State. But it’s definitely an important one.
The No. 6 Michigan Wolverines must first defeat Maryland, which put a scare into Michigan State a week ago before the Spartans pulled away late.
Michigan put Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford on his back at every opportunity a week ago, and the Wolverines’ defense will need to keep finding success with that pressure to keep Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa grounded.
