Liverpool fans have been getting the Kop ready ahead of the club’s first Premier League game at Anfield since Project Restart amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Jurgen Klopp’s side entertain Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening, with the game held behind-closed-doors due to the ongoing global health crisis.
The Reds need just need five points to clinch a first league crown in 30 years, with the runaway leaders drawing 0-0 with Merseyside rivals Everton in their most recent clash.
And while supporters won’t be able to witness what would have been an electric atmosphere at Anfield, flags and banners aplenty have been left at the historic ground in preparation for the encounter.
Spion Kop 1906 posted several images of the decorations on Twitter and Instagram, which pay tribute to the likes of Liverpool’s sixth European Cup victory last season, the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster and manager Klopp.
“We’ve been at Anfield today, getting The Kop ready for Wednesday,” Spion Kop posted before thanking fellow fans for their help.
Should the Reds beat Palace and City drop points against Chelsea a day later, it would mean they’d be confirmed champions at the Etihad when they take on Pep Guardiola’s side on July 2.
