Man City vs Chelsea: What has been said?

Pep Guardiola: “I think Chelsea, over many years, have been an incredible top team but from the beginning his team has played good.

“They were consistent with his ideas, the results are theirs. I’m happy for him, I know him a little bit, I know when he was here he was an excellent person.

“For English football it’s great when young English guys take over. He’s perfect for English football. It’s good.”

Frank Lampard on Chelsea’s league position: “I’d have said ‘thank you very much’ out of respect for Man City because of the levels that they and Liverpool have reached over the last two seasons, it’s been incredible. I have nothing but respect for both of them so for us to be in that position is something that I’m pleased with but I actually want more as well.

“I look at ourselves predominantly and don’t consider others around us and I think where might we have got more points. It will be a great test to see where we’re at but it won’t be the end story.

“You can go to Manchester City and lose, any team can because they’re such a strong outfit so I won’t be making huge judgements because our story is three months or so in the making in terms of me being here and some of the younger players coming in.”
