Manchester City are growing ‘increasingly agitated’ by Arsenal in their approach for Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners reportedly want to appoint their former captain as Unai Emery’s successor and want him in the dugout for the trip to Everton on Saturday.
However, compensation for the deal to go through is yet to be agreed.
According to the BBC, the Gunners are finalising the paperwork for the 37-year-old to take charge at the Emirates.
But the Premier League champions are getting ‘increasingly agitated’ by Arsenal’s conduct in the matter.
A seven-figure release clause has not been matched, with Arteta reporting back to City boss Pep Guardiola with every passing development.
A Manchester City source said: “It’s surprising to hear that plans are being made by Arsenal to unveil our coach as their head coach on Friday on the basis that no contact has been made by the club to discuss this matter.”
Arteta was spotted deep in thought on the City bench at the Kassam Stadium as he watched the Carabao Cup holders knock out minnows Oxford City on Wednesday night.
After taking the pre-match drills, the Spaniard was then seen taking his normal spot alongside Guardiola as City completed a 3-1 victory to move into the semi-finals.
