Maurizio Sarri believes he will succeed with Paul Pogba should the midfielder re-sign for Juventus.
The former Chelsea boss was confirmed as Juventus’ new manager on Sunday after spending one season at Stamford Bridge.
It is understood Sarri has been in communication with Juve’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, via his agent to discuss the many transfer targets on the club’s wishlist.
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been linked with a move back to the Old Lady, particularly after comments he made last weekend.
Pogba said: “There is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well.
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.
“I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
And while Sarri has never worked with the 26-year-old, it appears he’s relishing the prospect of working with a World Cup winner.
According to Calciomercato, upon learning of Juventus’ interest in Pogba, Sarri said: “I succeeded with [Eden] Hazard, I can also do it with a phenomenon like Pogba.”
Real Madrid and Juventus are the leading contenders to land the Frenchman’s signature, however, United are likely to demand in excess of £100m for him.
