David de Gea suffered an injury on international duty that could rule him out of Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool.
The Red Devils welcome Jurgen Klopp’s league leaders to Old Trafford on Sunday hoping to deal them a first league defeat of the season, but they may be without star goalkeeper De Gea.
He pulled up while making a clearance during Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifying draw with Sweden, and was substituted after an hour.
Jason Cundy says Pele is ‘overrated’
There are no guarantees De Gea will miss Sunday’s huge clash, though it’s not looking good with the apparent injury occurring only a few days prior to the long-awaited fixture.
Kepa, the Chelsea glovesman, replaced his compatriot between the sticks and came through the match unscathed – though the same cannot be said for some of his Blues team-mates.
Frank Lampard has been dealt a number of blows throughout this international break, with FOUR of his players suffering knocks while with their countries.
Defenders Andreas Christensen and Reece James are doubts for Saturday’s visit of Newcastle to Stamford Bridge, while N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, the midfielders, could also miss out having picked up knocks.

Other players injured during the international break include Alexis Sanchez, the Man United forward on loan at Inter, who dislocated his ankle playing for Chile, as well as Real Madrid duo Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, and PSG’s Brazil star Neymar.
Los Blacos pair Modric and Bale both suffered knocks while playing against one another, with Croatia drawing 1-1 in Cardiff on Sunday in a Euro 2020 qualifier. Bale scored for Wales to earn the draw, cancelling out Nikola Vlasic’s early opener.
Modric, the midfielder, was substituted late on while forward Bale ended the match clearly in discomfort and both players could miss Real’s LaLiga trip to Mallorca on Saturday evening.
