Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an update on the injury to Marcus Rashford as the forward limped off in Manchester United’s 1-0 win in their FA Cup third-round replay with Wolves.
Rashford was a second half substitute but had to come off after less than 15 minutes due to a back problem.
Solskjaer was pessimistic about his chances to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
He told talkSPORT: “He’s getting treatment now and hopefully we can get him back for Sunday but I’m not sure. He’s struggled with his back lately and he’s got another one.
“That backfired a little bit. Yes we got the goal and he was involved in the goal but it might have cost him Sunday.”
Juan Mata was the man who scored the only goal of the game and Solskjaer was pleased with the performances from the senior players in his side.
He added: “Delighted we are through, that’s what mattered. We got a very good result from a stubborn team who are hard to break down. Then again I thought we created four great chances – we didn’t take them but Juan (Mata) did.
“You don’t get an easier draw in the next round if you win 5-0, 1-0 is enough.
Manchester United fan says Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is the greatest defender the game has ever seen
“Him, Sergio (Romero) and Nemanja (Matic), the three of them are over 30 and of course it’s important because we do have a young team and they do have that sense of perspective.
“They are sensible and Juan is a such an important figure in that dressing room. He’s always positive, always intelligent, and clever and has never sulked.
“He’s not played as much as he would have liked this season, maybe half of the games. We know that all players will have to play their part in different parts of the season and at the moment Juan is in form.”
