The New York Yankees general manager has less than three weeks to upgrade his roster for the stretch run.
Tops on the list could be a left-handed hitting outfielder, especially with Aaron Hicks out after having wrist surgery.

The athletic Gallo is among the best position players mentioned regularly as available in this trade market as the last-place Rangers try to rebuild. Gallo can be a free agent after next season. Gallo, a Gold Glove Award winner last season, represented the Rangers in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. It was his second nod for the Midsummer Classic, with the first coming in 2019.
This year, he’s tied for fifth in the majors with 24 home runs, putting him on pace for his third 40-home run season (2017 and 2018 were the others). He also leads MLB with 72 walks.
Gallo participated in the Home Run Derby Monday night. Gallo, the No. 2 seed, lost in the first round to Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story, 20-19.
