Nigel Benn is proving age is just a number as pictures show the incredible shape he is in ahead of his return to boxing next month.
The 55-year-old will compete for the first time since 1996 when he takes on fellow former world champion Sakio Bika on November 23 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
Benn has been criticised by a number of big names in the sport, who see his return to the ring at his age as a reckless act of folly.
However, the ex-middleweight and super middleweight world title holder, is in better shape than ever before and is ready to defy the odds to win his first fight in 23 years.
Sun Sport’s award-winning photographer Richard Pelham has known Benn for 30 years and followed him around the world in his heyday.
He was invited back into Benn’s training camp this week and captured the British boxing legend’s intense workouts, recreating some famous shots.
Check out some of the incredible snaps below…
Benn – who last the three fights of his professional career – has vowed this will be his final time in the ring and is doing it to make up for mistakes of the past.
He said: “The Dark destroyer is dead, gone.
“He took drugs, he cheated on his wife. No more, I must not be known as that.
“It’s not about age. I’m in training all the time, I’ve got army discipline.
“My timing is good, my fitness levels now are through the roof. But this is my last fight, no more after this.”
