However, in an extraordinary turn of events, the Daily Mail claim France international Pogba is now happy to remain at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future – and is even open to extending his current deal.

While Pogba never spoke publicly of his desire to leave United, it was widely accepted that was his preferred stance owing to comments made by his agent Mino Raiola.

The super-agent told talkSPORT last month that Pogba is only committed to Manchester United until this summer.

“He is only committed to Manchester United until after the European Championship,” claimed Raiola. “The only focus there is is to get back as soon as possible into the team to help the team, and to make a good end of the season for Manchester United.

“That is what I said in Italy and that is what I am saying here.

“I am not trying to embarrass the club and I do not see where I offended them; I have not offended Manchester United, their owners or their fans in any way.

“This is my message to Raiola: Get stuffed! – Alan Brazil fumes in rant against Paul Pogba’s agent

“He is committed to Manchester United and only Manchester United until the European Championship this year, and then we will talk to the club if necessary.

“That is what I said in Italy and that is what I say here – and all the rest is a bunch of bulls***.”

The news will come as a major boost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has always maintained that Pogba is a vital part of his long-term plansa at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been linked with big-money moves for Pogba, while a return to his former club Juventus has also been mooted.

Pogba has endured an injury-hit campaign, making just eight appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. He is expected to return to full fitness and the starting XI over the next couple of weeks.
