Tottenham still have 12 Premier League games to play this season but preparations for next season are already under way.

Okay, it’s only the 2020/21 home kit that’s being readied but it’s obviously a very important part of the club’s business.

Traditionally, their home strips are quite understated with a fairly plain white top and few designs but they will be going for a new approach next season.

Footy Headlines have released images of the possible Nike strip and it’s fair to say it’s an eye-catching piece. The white base of the home kit is paired with navy and yellow trim.

The collar, which is reportedly the same one used on Barcelona’s away shirt, is navy with yellow trim.

And on the inside there are lateral zig-zag stripes that mirror this style.

It’s a kit Spurs could well be able to showcase in next season’s Champions League, despite their bad start to the league campaign.

They’re currently outside the top four, however, following the news that Manchester City are set to be banned from playing in European competitions for the next two seasons, finishing fifth will be enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League providing Pep Guardiola’s men finish inside the top four and the ban is upheld by UEFA.

Spurs are currently fifth, having beaten Aston Villa at the weekend and are now just a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea, although the Blues have a game in hand.

But Jose Mourinho’s men will have to continue getting good results with surprise package Sheffield United just a point behind them.

Mourinho said: “When we speak about fifth, Wolves, Sheffield [United], Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton look to the table and week after week say, ‘We can do it’ and they can.

“So it is going to be very hard. We have a big fight and you could see on Saturday, Liverpool was first versus last, and today with Villa fighting to stay in the division how difficult it was.”
