Portsmouth, the lowest-ranked team left in this season’s FA Cup, take on Premier League big guns Arsenal tonight.

The League One outfit beat Barnsley in the last round while the Gunners edged past Bournemouth and now the two will meet at Fratton Park.

Pompey claimed FA Cup glory in 2008 and are currently going well in the league, sitting third as they strive for promotion back to the Championship.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, who have won the historic tournament a record 13 times, will be looking to bounce back from their woeful Europa League exit to Olympiakos last week.

These two last faced each other in the 2009/10 Premier League season with the Gunners claiming 4-1 wins at home and away.

Portsmouth have not beaten the north Londoners since 1958.

Portsmouth vs Arsenal: Team news

Portsmouth will assess captain Tom Naylor and winger Ronan Curtis ahead of the tie.

Pompey are confident the pair will be fit despite sustaining knocks in Friday’s 3-0 League One win over Rochdale.

Christian Burgess collected his 10th booking of the season in that match but will be available to face the Gunners as his two-game suspension will only be served in league fixtures.

Jack Whatmough and Oli Hawkins are set to return to Jackett’s squad after being left out against Dale for tactical reasons.

Arsenal are likely to shuffle this ranks at Fratton Park and they will be without Sead Kolasinac, who has suffered a significant shoulder strain.

Cedric Soares and Kieran Tierney are likely to still be sidelined while Calum Chambers is a long-term absentee.

January signing Pablo Mari will be pushing for his Arsenal debut.

Portsmouth vs Arsenal: What has been said?

Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett: “If you’re looking at the ups and downs of Portsmouth, they’ve had a lot of highs, FA Cup winners, but then spent four years in League Two and before that administration where they did really well to be able to climb out.

“We want to try and get back, and get back into the upper echelons of the pyramid, definitely, if we can.

“We want to try and do it in a sustainable way as well, that’s important.

“But Monday night, there will be a national focus on us and that will be great, and hopefully we can have many more.

“You’re playing against one of the genuinely great clubs in this country. It’s a great game for us. They don’t come along often so you have to be enthusiastic about it.

“It’s a fantastic tie, a mouthwatering one and definitely one we’re looking forward to.”
