Europe’s top marksmen don’t have many weeks of 2019 left and the race to be the top calendar year goalscorer is hotting up.

No official award is given to the player who top scores – that’s what the Golden Boots are for – but it does come with some sort of prestige.

One player not in contention, though, is Cristiano Ronaldo as the Juventus star has been off the pace this year with just 18 goals in 33 games.

The usual faces are vying for the number one spot with five Premier League players in the top 15.

So, looking at players from England’s top flight, along with Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga – and forgetting international goals – here are the top scoring strikers of 2019.

15. Timo Werner – 22 goals (34 games)

The 23-year-old RB Leipzig has been in fine form for the Bundesliga side.

Since this season started he has netted 16 goals in all competitions.

14. Luis Suarez – 23 goals (42 games)

The Barcelona striker is proving he can still cut it at the top despite rapidly approaching his 33rd birthday.

He helped the Catalan giants to their fourth LaLiga title since joining them in 2014.

13. Duvan Zapata – 23 goals (32 games)

The striker is on a two-season long loan from Napoli to Atalanta and has been one of the most prolific forwards in Serie A.

His best goal tallies for Napoli were seven and eight in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons respectively.

12. Moussa Dembele – 24 goals (44 games)

The 23-year-old Lyon striker has been prolific in Ligue 1 ever since joining from Celtic in August 2018.

His goals this season have put him top of the goal charts.

The Leicester striker is in the form of his life, by his own admission, at the moment.

He has already scored an incredible 12 Premier League goals in 13 games this season.

10. Wissam Ben Yedder – 25 goals (41 games)

Manchester United were linked to Ben Yeddar in the summer but he instead signed for Monaco in Ligue 1 from Sevilla.

He has hit the ground running and already has nine goals in 12 Ligue 1 games this season.

9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 25 goals (41 games)

The Arsenal striker shared the Golden Boot award last season having scored 22 goals.

He continues to show why he one of the best strikers in the Premier League this campaign with eight goals already.

Mane helped Liverpool to win the Champions League last season and had his best ever goal return.

He found the net 26 times in all competitions and has continued that form to the current campaign.

Sterling established himself as one of the world’s best players last season and has developed into a top goalscorer.

5. Sergio Aguero – 29 goals (38 games)

The second Manchester City player on this list and he keeps showing why he is one of the best strikers around.

Even better than Sterling, the 31-year-old is on course to score more than 20 Premier League goals for the SIXTH consecutive season.

4. Kylian Mbappe – 32 goals (35 games)

The 20-year-old is already one of the best strikers in the world and has had a great season in front of goal in 2019.

The France striker has been a fantastic servant to Real Madrid over the last decade and has been back at his best since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club.

Messi continues to break records and defy the odds at Barcelona with yet another unbelievable year.

Last season he scored 51 goals in 50 games and has now scored more than 610 club goals for the LaLiga giants.

The Bayern Munich striker probably does not get enough credit for the form he has shown in 2019.
