The nose from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s statue is being worn as a NECKLACE, according to a Malmo fan.
Last October, Malmo honoured Ibrahimovic with a statue outside their stadium as he made his senior debut in football with the club in 1999, before going on to star for Inter, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, among other top clubs.
But the 38-year-old went from hero to public enemy number one after becoming co-owner of Malmo’s fierce rivals Hammarby a month later.
Malmo fans quickly responded by setting his statue on fire and eventually sawing it off its plinth in January.
Before the statue fell to its end, the nose had been cut off just before Christmas Day – and it has since been seen around someone’s neck in Malmo.
One of the club’s fans, John Taylor, told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet: “I would like to point out that I do not support vandalising public art; at the same time I understand why they did it.
“I also know where Zlatan’s nose is. I can say that. I know it is in Malmo.
“I’m a person away from that nose. I don’t know where it is right now, but I know it was seen at a party around New Year.
“I know that it is in Malmo and that it is around someone’s neck.
“Well, it’s a necklace now.”
Ibrahimovic is currently playing for Milan in a third spell with the club, though rumours suggest he will retire when the 2019/20 season finally ends to begin his coaching career.
