Despite Florida State’s 0-2 start, the Seminoles still have the No. 10 ranked recruiting class in the country. However, Mike Norvell’s recruiting strategy must now change.
FSU’s recruiting momentum has come to a screeching halt. Nobody has jumped ship or decommitted, but FSU must now adjust from a more aggressive, attacking approach, to going on the defensive and protecting commit class that they currently have from flipping. If the losses continue to mount up, the negative recruiting will only increase and the time the staff will spend combatting that will also increase.

FSU’s week one loss didn’t raise many concerns. As a matter of fact, the close loss to Notre Dame may have even added to FSU’s momentum on the recruiting trail. The loss to Jacksonville State could be the start of rough couple months for recruiting for FSU, especially if the team doesn’t rebound on the road against Wake Forest this weekend and stem the tide.
This recruiting class has stood rock solid through the first two losses of the season, which is a testament to the job the staff did in recruiting each prospect. The coaches explained to the commitments that this team will struggle on the field this year.
As long as the staff can keep the top quarter of the class committed, they’ll have a good shot at holding it all together — Travis Hunter, Sam McCall, Trevion Williams and AJ Duffy are the key prospects FSU can’t afford to lose.
