Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has dubbed a bust-up between Heung-min Son and Hugo Lloris ‘beautiful’.
The two Spurs stars clashed at half-time in Monday’s 1-0 win over Everton and had to be separated by teammates.
Lloris took issue with Son for not tracking back towards the end of the first-half as Tottenham got back to winning ways after losing 3-1 at Sheffield United on Thursday.
Asked about the argument, Mourinho told Sky Sports: “That’s beautiful. It’s probably a consequence of our meetings.
“If you want to blame somebody for that, it’s me, because I was critical of my boys because they’re not, in my opinion, critical enough with each other.
“I asked them to be more demanding, I asked them to demand more from others. I asked them to put pressure on that team spirit that you have to give everything for everybody.
“An amazing kid who everybody loves like Sonny, a team boy, but in that situation, the captain thought, ‘in the last minute of the first-half, you have to do more for the team, you have to give us a different effort than you gave’.
“A couple of bad words, I don’t even know if there was any push, but it’s something very important for the team to grow up because for a team to grow up you need to demand from each other, you need strong personalities and I was pleased.
“So at half-time, I told them, ‘when you have these reactions, I have no doubt in the second-half that you are going to stick together until the end.’”
Tottenham beat Everton thanks to Michael Keane’s 24th-minute own goal.
Giovani Lo Celso’s shot was going wide until it took a wicked deflection off the England defender.
