After three Summer Series friendlies and three wins, the U.S. women’s national team has completed their last evaluation period before the Olympics. The U.S. will play two more friendly sendoff games in July, but the Olympic roster is due before that. Based on previous performances and Vlatko Andonovski’s clear preferences in starting lineups, a good dozen or so of the 18 available roster spots have been considered locks for months.
Before we delve into the roster, a bit of metagaming: First, consider that Andonovski has spoken in pre- and post-game press conferences about “known quantities,” particularly in reference to players like Tobin Heath, who is currently still rehabbing an injury.
