There was mass confusion at the Tottenham Hostpur Stadium with VAR at the centre of the controversy.
Dele Alli scored a late equaliser for Spurs to rescue a point at home to strugglers Watford.
The goal was checked by VAR for a potential handball committed by Alli in the build-up.
The goal was given but the big screens at the stadium said ‘No Goal’.
Play kicked-off though from the centre circle after the referee indicated that the goal had in fact been given.
There was huge confusion at the match with both fans and players not knowing what had gone on.
John Motson, commentating on the game for talkSPORT, described the incident as the ‘most confusing of the season so far’.
It was a legitimate goal but it appears the wrong messages was displayed on the screens at the stadium.
Earlier in the match, Abdoulaye Doucoure had given Watford the lead after just seven minutes.
Tottenham looked like they were heading for yet another defeat following a 3-0 loss to Brighton before the international break.
Watford were desperate for their first Premier League win of the season and looked to be heading for three points at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Dele Alli denied them with the late goal, though, as the match ended 1-1 but still a far from satisfactory result for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
