Charlton, Hull City and Wigan Athletic have been relegated to League One.
On a dramatic final day of Championship action, Barnsley snatched a last-gasp winner over Brentford – the Bees missing out on automatic promotion – to secure survival against the odds.
With Luton also winning to retain their second-tier status, Charlton were condemed to the drop as they were thrashed 4-0 by champions Leeds at Elland Road.
WIgan drew 1-1 with Fulham to finish 13th but a 12-point deduction for entering dministration means they drop to second from bottom, with Hull propping up the table after losing to Cardiff.
Wigan are appealing against their punishment so there could be more drama yet to come.
Should the Latics be successful, Barnsley would be relegated.
The Bees were chasing the goal which would have seen them leapfrog West Brom, who were held 2-2 by QPR, into second place.
But they were caught on the break and substitute Oduor swept the ball home to spark jubilant scenes on the Barnsley bench. The point keeps Barnsley out of the bottom three after Wigan’s 12-point deduction for entering administration is applied – but the Latics are appealing that decision.
The Tykes had led through Callum Styles’ strike shortly before the interval, before Brentford equalised through Josh Dasilva, and top scorer Ollie Watkins will not look back fondly on the late chance he squandered.
West Brom ended their two-year exile from the Premier League, despite Ebere Eze denying them the victory which would have made the game at The Hawthorns much easier.
They could be joined back in the top flight by Cardiff City after they thrashed Hull. Junior Hoilett, Sean Morrison and Danny Ward eased the Bluebirds into a play-off position that seemed barely credible when Neil Warnock was sacked in November.
The Bluebirds were 14th in the Championship when Neil Harris took over, but an instant improvement under the former Millwall boss and six wins in nine games since the season was restarted last month took them into fifth position.
Hull, however, have been heading in the other direction at an alarming rate. Five straight losses – including an embarrassing 8-0 capitulation at Wigan last week – and 15 defeats in 20 games had preceded a final day trip to south Wales and left them anchored to the foot of the division.
Luton secured their Championship status in dramatic fashion with two own goals securing a 3-2 win over Blackburn.
Nathan Jones’ team went into the game knowing a win would be enough to ensure a second season at this level, and they managed just that on a nervy night at Kenilworth Road.
